"My ambition has always been to compete in the UK," said an ecstatic Marty, when the winner was announced, "and the prize has provided an opportunity to show that Australians can be competitive at the top level of rallying." Marty Beckton has been rallying for five years in a variety of cars, including a Datsun 280Z and a Lancia Delta. He is the youngest-ever winner of two of Australia's leading championships the North-east Victorian Rally championship and was the 1995 Tasman Cup winner. His most recent rallies have been run in a Proton Wira.
